I have had the hornet on my vehicle for years. It really does work. I have one on my motorcycle also. Deer come to the road edge, see (hear) you coming, and take off. I have seen it work many times. The only time I have seen it fail is with fawns. I have seen mom take off, the a bit later the fawns may walk out in the road looking for her.

Hi I bought the Hornet Electronic Deer warning 10 years ago, worked great but the switch died on me, I think I may have caused this by attempting to use a different switch. I had thrown the original away and now purchased this one. As soon as I connected it my horn work as it should. Good product bad electrician.

I was driving home in my RV over Monarch Pass, Colorado. Heading down the pass at 20. The road had icy patches from a recent snowstorm. I saw an elk run up the hill to the guardrail, ready to jump over and cross the road in front of me. She heard the Hornet, looked at me, turned around and headed back down the hill. What a relief. A few years earlier I was following a car up Route 50, toward Salida, CO. There was a deer in the grass to the right side and a little in front of the car in front of me. I could tell the deer wanted to run in front of the car to cross the road. The deer turned right instead. My Hornet saved his car from a major accident. I no longer bounce birds off my windshield. Instead of birds flying up and bouncing off the top of my windshield, doing a cartwheel and flopping on the highway, as they get near my vehicle, they do a 180 and fly off in the other direction. I’ve saved a bunch of birds with my Hornet. I also use my Hornet as a dog call. I hike in the woods and sometimes my dogs wander off. The Hornet is about the same frequency as the ultrasonic dog whistle that I carry. If the dogs don’t show up at the car, I turn on my Hornet and within a couple minutes, the dogs come running back to the car. The Hornet is a lot louder than my dog whistle. I’ve used Hornets for 20+ years. The new ones seem louder and more effective.

this is my second “deer screamer”. I purchased the first one for my new 2014 Indian Chief. Definately noticed the number of deer I saw went way down. And have now bought one for my New Indian Scout. I recommend them to all my bike buddies.

I live in a heavily wood area of the country and I have seen this in action. Used this product on my motorcycle for last two weeks. The deer I have seen, about 5 now, stop listen and move out of the way. Worked on a gaggle of turkeys crossing the road, parted them like the Red Sea. Squirrels quickly make up their mind and get out of the way. Birds also fly away long before I get to them. Great product I highly recommend!

I bought this 15 years ago, love it. I put this on my personal vehicle and my semi . It works the animals start moving and they get away from you. The only time we noticed that the deer don’t run away from us is during mating season we had a couple run in front of us shaking there heads to get across the road where the girls are. But we haven’t hit any animals and that is why I love this product.

This was a replacement wiring harness. The fuse capsule holder on the original harness broke and would no longer lock the fuse down. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star review is because the adhesive on the toggle switch is not very strong. I used Velcro instead.

After 6 vehicles over the last 20 years and 1 (number 3 vehicle) without this deer deterrent…yep, you guessed it. I “grilled” 5, count em’ 5, deer in the one without! Now I’ve a newer vehicle and won’t be happy until it’s on. We live in S.E. Iowa…Whitetail country and it’s nothing to drive between Keokuk and Iowa City and see 3-5 carcasses up and back. Glad my new unit came in yesterday! And when you see deer, remember 2 things: 1) whatever the side of the road they came bouncing out of, there’s more coming. And 2) slow down, flash your brights up and down to break their being eye-locked and toot your horn until they’re all gone. Do it all and have a ball. Forget just one and you’ll be dun. (done) Don’t hesitate, before it’s too late, buy the Hornet. They’re just GREAT!

My lights show deer looking at me at 1500′ then at 800′ they run away from me due to the XP3 Hornet! Love this product. Note standard headlights only light up 300′ so to really see the deer run, you need some Denali D7s.

I purchase one of these several years ago (2003) and installed it incorrectly so it didn’t work properly. I contacted the manufacturer and he sent me a new one with installation instructions. Once properly installed the Hornet turned deer heads, and the head of every other animal I crossed paths with. The cost has doubled but the quality remains equal or better

Had my mechanic install on lower part of grill using four 1/4″ x 2-5/16′ J bolts. The V-135 Interstate definitely puts out more volume than the V-120 which I had on my previous vehicle, which is what I wanted. The can barely hear inside the Lexus. If the radio is on I cannot hear at all. Very pleased so far and I drive in an area with many deer. Hit 2 deer prior to using the Hornet (actually the deer ran into me).

I do most of my riding in North Idaho and western Montana. I’ve been writing for 50 years and over the last five years I have been averaging about 18,000 miles a year on a Road King. This part of the country is loaded with wild game. After reading as much as I could find on deer whistles I came to the conclusion that the inexpensive air type are junk because they do no project far enough out. I did find a few comments of people having success with the XP3 Hornet deer whistle. So far this spring (2020) I’ve ridden about 2900 miles and have encountered 19 deer groups with the Hornet installed. I know from experience leaving Thompson Falls Montana heading up toward Thompson Pass in the morning is always loaded with deer. And it sure as heck I was not disappointed. The hornet was effective every time. Every encounter was pretty much the same. All of the deer stopped eating perked their ears up and looked right at me. It was as if though they couldn’t make out what they were hearing but they were alarmed by it. After just a second or two they would turn and move away from where the sound was coming from. Some walked but most ran away 100% of the time. None of them came toward me or crossed the road in front of me. All of them stopped what they were doing and looked at me first. One group were about 100 yards ahead on the road. They scattered before I even got close. The guy who I ride with is also very experienced in this area and he too was amazed at what he saw. He’s putting an XP3 Hornet on his bike right now. The mounting instructions are very important as the sonic tone is bounced off the pavement in front of the bike so you have to have a position just right at a 45 degree angle to the ground. I pulled into a gas station and forgot to turn it off but still had my earplugs in and the lady in front of me covered her ears and looked angry because the tone is very irritating even to humans. I always turn it off driving through towns. For all of those people who say these things don’t work I can tell you it definitely gets a deer’s attention. Now in the fall during rutting season the deer are breeding and their hormones are running high. This is the time when you see them come out of nowhere and blast across a highway like they’re trying to escape a cougar. The XP3 hornet probably will not work in that situation. When they’re in fight or flight mode they’re just plain crazy. You have to be very careful in the Fall. As I get more experience I will report back.
I mounted the p-clamp on my motorcycles engine guard with ease. The quality is very good.

I am embarrassed to admit that many years ago I used to apply those cheap stick-on “deer whistles” to the front of my vehicles. They are a complete scam & joke. Then I found The Hornet….wow, finally a genuine deer avoidance tool! I have witnessed countless times when deer have turned and run away from the roadway upon hearing The Hornet approaching. For years I have had one installed on my work delivery trucks and my personal vehicle. My wife is a firm believer and I installed one on her car. She never leaves town without activating it. Now I have installed one on my 16-yr. old daughter’s car; and my in-laws had me install one on their van. They honestly do work, folks. And while I must point out that the only guaranteed way to never strike a deer is to not drive, The Hornet DRASTICALLY reduces your odds of a deer collision. That’s good enough for me. I only wish they were a bit cheaper, but……

Having been involved in 8 deer collisions – I did come across an honest review on this product. Living in upstate New York there are deer everywhere and the amount of driving I do the odds are stacked. I installed the first one in my service truck 3 years ago. It’s amazing the way the deer will hear it and acknowledge. I have not had another incident and that’s driving in whitetail country everyday and 180k since the last. Because I have seen such excellent results- my suv, my wife’s car, my daughter’s car all have the hornet. Excellent product

I have been using the Hornet Deer Alert for the past ten years. I have them on all of my vehicles and those of my other family members. I have avoided numerous collisions with deer here in The Great Dismal Swamp of NE NC and SE VA. The one time I forgot to turn the alert “on” was the time I had a deer strike. I braked hard and we both survived. I will not drive without the Hornet.
